Satori (悟り) is a Japanese Zen Buddhist term for awakening; comprehension and understanding.

It comes from the original Indian understanding of the concept of enlightenment. So this word Satori actually has a lot more significance, as this Buddhist idea of enlightenment is actually this:

At the root of man’s trouble is his primal state of ignorance. Particularly his tendency to only see the world as it appears, without understanding how it works in reality. Attaining enlightenment enables man to see the hidden truth, and thus be released from the state of ignorance.

“The truth is hidden, the way a cloud-covered moon is not visible. Attaining enlightenment is the clouds dispersing, and everything becoming illuminated by moonlight.”
